Dismissing the Class
As in the beginning of the class, students line up according
to rank. The senior member gives the following commands:
- Cha Ryut (attention)
- Kukgi Bae Rye (salute the flag)
- Ba Ro (return)
- Muk Yum (meditation)
- Ba Ro (return)
- Cha Ryut (attention)
- Kwan Chang Nim E Kyung Yet (bow to the Grandmaster)
- Cha Ryut (attention)
- Sah Bum Nim E Kyung Yet (bow to the instructor)
When the command to bow the instructor is given, all members
say with clarity "Ko Map Sum Ni Da (Thank you, sir), Tang Soo!" to the instructor.
The class instructor or senior member then calls: "Five
Codes of Tang Soo Do". The entire class recites the five codes together
loudly and clearly:
- Loyalty to country
- Obedience to parents and elders
- Honor friendship
- No retreat in battle
- In fighting, choose with sense and honor
The class instructor or senior member then calls: "The
Four Student Creeds". The entire class recites the four creeds together
loudly and clearly:
- I will develop myself in a
positive manner, and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or
my physical health.
- I will develop self-discipline,
in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
- I will use what I learned in
class constructively and defensively, to help myself and my fellow man, and
never to be abusive or offensive.
- We are a black belt school, we are
motivated, we are dedicated, we're on a quest to be the best.
The class instructor or senior member then calls: "Power
Clap!". The entire class claps three times on command.
Then, all members should call "Tang Soo" with right hand
raised.
